Robert De Niro is an American actor and producer who has starred in more than 100 films. He is well-known for his roles in Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, and The Godfather Part II, to name a few. De Niro was born on August 17, 1943, in Manhattan, New York City. His parents, Virginia Admiral and Robert De Niro Sr., were both artists. De Niro was raised by his mother after his father left the family when he was two years old. He began acting in high school and then studied at the Stella Adler Conservatory of Acting and the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. De Niro’s first film role was in the 1963 film, The Wedding Party. However, it was his role as a young tough in the 1974 film, The Godfather Part II, that earned him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. De Niro has since gone on to star in many successful films, including Goodfellas, Cape Fear, and Casino.
